Outfits Lately a la Pinterest

My resolve to overhaul my closet and to gather inspiration from my Pinterest pins has gotten better.  I'm still gathering stuff to donate or try to sell.  I'm making a trip to my parents this week to go through the rest of the clothing I have there, which isn't a lot since it's mainly emergency items I may need if I'm staying over for the night.  That being said, I've been attempting to dress more in a way that reflects my style.  I've also have been making a conscious effort to wear normal clothes during the week instead of workout gear 24/7.  Partly this is all thanks to the hot and humid temps this week and wanting to work out in the early am.  The other dressing for fun and not taking it too seriously.  Here are three looks that came from inspiration a la Pinterest.

Cream Lace ScallopTop: F21 (similar), Jean Shorts: American Eagle, Belt: American Eagle (similar), Chunky Bracelet:Vintage (similar), Thin Bracelet: Banana Republic (similar)
You can't tell in the b&w photo but there is some color in the outfit.  The belt has a pink thread woven into it and the thin bracelet is aqua with gold detailing.  I ended up going to a hockey game in the afternoon and threw a navy blazer (from this post) over it to keep me warm.

Striped Maxi: THML (similar), Bracelet: JCP (similar)
This dress is from my last Stitchfix.  I was so excited to wear this because it has all of my favorite things into one outfit.  Stripes, details, maxi dress, check!  Completely effortless in 90 degree weather.

I actually wore this outfit a month ago for our one year anniversary.

Top: Zara (similar: here and here), Mint Cardi: Gap (similar: here and here), Dark Wash Jeans: the Limited (almost the exact here)

Stitchfix #2

I signed up for my latest Stitchfix to be in the middle of June.  (I know it's mid July now, but better late than never!)  I was excited to see what my stylist had picked out since I also included my "Stylish Inspirations" pinterest board.  When the box came, I saw something that caught my eye instantly.  This dress by THML.  There was an earlier version of this floating around months ago but in tank form.  I've seen it on other blogs and fell in love with it.  Lo and behold it came in one of my most favorite piece for summer, the maxi dress.  I'm kinda obsessed with stripes and add a pretty embroidery detail, love at first sight my friends.

Next up this top, which I did like however it was a bit too sheer for me.  Yes, I could add a tank underneath but who wants to layer when it's summer out?  It also felt like it had an autumn/fall vibe to it.

I fell in love with this pretty shade of mint green.  I loved everything about this blouse except for the for the front slit underneath the gold buttons.  Which was odd when tucking into the skirt because if I didn't have the skirt high enough I would be showing a sliver of skin.  I loved the combo of the mint and abstract skirt together!  The black & white abstract skirt was another print that I fell in love with from this fix.  Plus it had adorable side pockets.  Unfortunately I did not think the fit was flattering.  I felt that it accentuated my hips and made them look wider than what they are.

I liked this shirt tucked in with the skirt and could envision it tucked into a pair of dark jeans too.  Untucked felt too much like maternity wear for me.  I was on the fence about the collar, while I liked the contrast of black and white, I wasn't sure if I liked that the contrasted parts was all about the collar.

I did keep the THML maxi dress, I think it's prefect for lounging around the house or hosting a summer BBQ.

What's your summer go-to piece?

Stitchfix Review

I signed up to get my first fix on the 14th.  I received my package after work on Friday.  I specified for business, laid back, and trendy casual clothing within a $50-$100 price range.  This is what I was sent:

I did like this cuff, I like the boldness of it but thought it was a tad plain for the price.

Loved, the color of this top.  I have been getting into the habit of wearing more color and color combining.  The flowy-ness and the sleeves were right on too.  I tend to prefer looser fitting tops with tighter bottoms so this was perfect for me.

Love the outfit ideas they give!

The cardi was my least favorite, I wasn't digging the color scheme and length.  It was soft and can see it being a year round essential.  Plus, it doesn't wrinkle so you can throw it in your purse or travel bag.

I'm not a button down type of gal, however the shoulder detail and the multi-color flecks in this top make it cute and unique.  However it was on the thin/sheer side.

Since starting my job, I find that I need more dressier dresses for work.  I love how I can dress this with heels and a blazer for work or a chunky knit scarf, leggings, and riding boots for weekend.

What did I keep? The navy dress.  I love how convenient this service is and the little outfit ideas that come with it.  Perfect for the working woman to the stay at home mom.  I'm thinking a Stitchfix would be perfect gift for the holidays. Sign up today to treat yourself or that special gal in your life for a fun surprise.
